Dr. Taylor completed her BSc in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph in 2010, with a special interest in Poultry husbandry and welfare, working throughout her degree in different aspects of the layer industry and in research at the University of Guelph. She went on to complete her DVM degree at the Ontario Veterinary College, graduating in 2014, also taking special interest in her last year of school in poultry medicine, health and welfare through several hands-on rotations. Dr. Taylor is currently the Veterinarian for Cargill Canada, working on both the health and welfare of broilers and broiler breeders through the poultry facility in London, her office in Guelph and on farm. She specifically focuses on main welfare issues such as transportation welfare, welfare on farm and in the processing plant, appropriate on-farm euthanization practices and training of stakeholders on good animal welfare practices. She is also working on the issue of antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic reduction in collaboration with the CFO, CFIA, CVO, Public Health Agency of Canada and other industry partners like Maple Leaf and Maple Lodge. Dr. Taylor is currently a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and the Ontario Association of Poultry Practitioners.
