Dr. Durda Slavic

(DVM, MSc, PhD)

Dr. Slavic completed her DVM at the University of Zagreb in Croatia and went on to complete a MSc and PhD at the Ontario Veterinary College. She works primarily in veterinary bacteriology and is also involved with Salmonella testing for export purposes and Brachyspira in poultry. Dr. Slavic became interested in poultry health through collaborations with poultry pathologists and poultry veterinarians. Currently she has coop students, work study students, ten full time and two part time technicians in her laboratory. None of her previous students continued in the field of poultry health; however, some have continued with their education and completed MSc studying various diseases. Durda collaborates with Cornell University, Iowa State University, Georgia University and the Public Health Agency of Canada. Her work is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs and the Poultry Industry Council. Publications
