Dr. Sargeant obtained her DVM, MSc and PhD at the University of Guelph. She is a professor and director of CPHAZ. Dr. Sargeant’s areas of interest include:
- zoonotic disease prevention and control;
- food and water safety;
- role of veterinary medicine in public health;
- input of research to public health decision making.
Her research focuses on systematic review in agri-food public health, policy research in microbial food safety, burden of gastrointestinal illness, perception of risk of gastrointestinal illness. Dr. Sargeant also teaches undergraduate and graduate students in epidemiology and public health.
