Dr. Kulkarni obtained his BVSc (Eqv. DVM) and Masters in Veterinary Parasitology and Immunology from Indian Veterinary Research Institute. Subsequent to working in the pharmaceutical industry (Drug Discovery, Torrent Research Center) for a few years in India, he joined University of Guelph for his PhD. During his doctoral studies, he worked in the area of vaccines against Necrotic Enteritis in chickens with Dr. John Prescott in the Pathobiology department of Ontario Veterinary College. Following to PhD, he worked with Dr. Shayan Sharif for his post-doctoral training in avian immunology for 2 years with a fellowship supported by the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. Subsequently, to gather further training in vaccine immunology, he worked at the Emory University Vaccine Center, Atlanta, Georgia for 3 years with Drs. Murali Kaja and Rafi Ahmed. He joined Pathobiology department at the University of Guelph in December 2014 to work as the PHRN- Coordinator and his research interests are in avian health, disease and vaccines. He is also an Adjunct Professor and an Associated Graduate Faculty in Pathobiology.
