Dr. R. J. Julian is veterinary pathologist specializing in the diagnosis and prevention of poultry disease. He has taught undergraduate students and has trained many graduate veterinarians in poultry pathology. He has given his poultry disease lecture course at universities in Canada and around the world. He has spoken at meetings and worked or volunteered in over 25 countries. In 1982 he developed vaccine to prevent coccidiosis in poultry. His research has been in metabolic, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular diseases of poultry.
