Dr. Agnes Agunos


Dr. Agunos obtained her DVM at the University of Philippines. Her graduate diploma in Avian Pathology and Medicine was obtained at the University of Guelph, as well as her MSc. Also, Dr. Agunos received a diplomate from the American College of Poultry Veterinarians (ACPV). She has studied Avian Hepatitis E Virus and Splenomegaly Syndrome, focusing her attention on the flaxseed-diet outbreak concerning this virus. Other areas of research includes the prevention and elimination of Salmonella Enteritidis infection in broilers, as well as anti-microbial use and resistance in poultry. Dr. Agunos was president of the Ontario Association of Poultry Practitioners from 2007 until 2009. She is a member of the American Association of Avian Pathologists, where she is involved in diseases of public health and significance epidemiology, as well as past-chair and continuing education committee at the ACPV. Previously, Dr. Agunos worked at Maple Leafs for three years, where she was involved with poultry health exposure.
